One
of the most assured debut features I've seen in a long while, Julia
Ducournau's Raw is an intelligently crafted, bold and visceral horror film. It's central theme of cannibalism and reports that some scenes have had audiences heading for the exit or even passing out has gained it a certain notoriety but there is so much more going on under the surface, in what is actually a bittersweet and darkly funny coming of age tale. Highly recommended.
