My favourite release of 2014 so far High Life is the second
collaboration in four months from Brian Eno and Underworld's Karl Hyde.
Recorded in just 5 days, much of it with live processing, Eno and Hyde
take elements and textures from African Pop music and bend them into new
and exciting shapes, recalling some of Eno's very best work from the
late 70's/ early 80's; the similarly African influenced My Life in the
Bush of Ghosts with David Byrne and the Talking Heads albums he
produced, notably Fear of Music and Remain in Light. The cover art above
was designed by Eno too.
