First and Final Frames

This is an interesting edit of opening and closing shots side by side from a selection of great movies. I find it makes films more satisfying when there is some kind of link between a films start and end point and you feel that you have come full circle. It makes sense for the shots to compliment one another and for it to work as a loop if you were to start the film again straight away.

Analysis like this reminds me of the importance of looking at stills from a film side by side to see how they will cut - an editorial practise that is dying out due to the massive increase in the amount of rushes the cutting room has to process since film went digital.
