Richard Billingham

Richard Billingham has returned to the subject of the 1996 book that made his name - 'Ray's A Laugh', his unflinching document of growing up in a tower block in Birmingham with an alcoholic dad and an obese chain smoking mum.

Richard has recreated the flat in intricate detail and cast actors to play his parents in 'Ray & Liz', a feature film based on his childhood. He has shot and edited one third of the film and is raising money through kickstarter to finish the project.
