David Bowie & James Murphy

James Murphy has been a busy man since he retired LCD Soundsystem, producing Arcade Fire's album Reflektor, remixing the David Bowie track Love is Lost and directing his first short film Little Duck, overseen by Ron Howard.

The Bowie remix is outstanding. Subtitled the Hello Steve Reich Mix in reference to the composer's Clapping Music, a minimalist piece performed entirely by clapping, it replaces the rather pedestrian backing track of the original with some amazing synth work over an epic 10 minutes and even sneaks in a cheeky Ashes to Ashes sample.

I mentioned in an earlier post that it's hard to use digital noise creatively without it looking like a mistake but that's just what Barnaby Roper does in his video for the track with incredibly beautiful results.
